Musical Instruments We have been undertaking these specialist quarterly auctions for over 20 years. We are the only firm outside London to regularly hold dedicated Musical Instrument sales and they form an important part of the international auction market. Professional players looking to upgrade their instruments, students, collectors and dealers all attend the auctions.
Stringed Instruments
Stringed instruments are individually appraised by our consultant, Mr Gimpel Solomon who is a professional luthier, restorer and connoisseur of instruments, with many years experience in Cremona and New York and is highly regarded throughout the music world.
Specialist auctions of fine quality stringed instruments are held in London in the spring and autumn. These sales are aimed specifically at the international music market and are attended by many of the world’s leading buyers.
Folk Instruments and Guitars
An interesting variety of folk instruments feature in the auctions held in Corsham. There is always a strong demand for quality instruments in this category.
Over the last few years we have sold several important collections of flutes, flageolets, fifes and piccolos by all the famous makers including Rudall and Rose, Claude Laurent (glass flutes), Siccama, Monzani, Cahusac, Clementi & Co, Henry Potter etc.
Concertinas have become a speciality in our auctions and we seem to have cornered the market in selling one of the most desirable models, the Jeffries Anglo Concertina. These instruments are highly sought after by Irish Folk bands and in good condition can make £2,500-£3,500 in our sales.
Gibson, Fender, Hoffner, Gretch, Ibanez, Martin and Panormo are but a few of the famous makers of guitars which are included regularly in these auctions.
Brass and Woodwind
A good selection of these instruments is always represented, ranging from student to professional and collectable and covering all areas of band and orchestra.
Illustrated colour catalogues are available two weeks prior to each auction and can also be viewed online. Please contact Jamie South on 01225 812912 to discuss your musical requirements. |
